Monet Sunset Shawl

This shawl pattern would work well with any two complementary colours, but I designed it specifically for the brightly coloured variegated yarn with a solid/semi-solid contrast yarn. The asymmetric stripes with the more neutral contrast colour calms down the variegated yarn, helps minimise pooling but still maintains the wow factor of the yarn.

The basic triangular shape curves inwards to create a sharper point at the base of the spine which is emphasised when blocked.

The shawl body is stocking(ette) stitch and the border is garter stitch. No wrap short rows, right and left leaning knit and purl increases are used for the shaping and stripes.

Sample used Wollmeise 80/20 Twin sock yarn, which is a heavy fingering weight yarn at 340 yards/100 grammes, in colourways Thriller (280.5 yards) and Fritzi Frizzante (250 yards), and measures 68″ wide and 22″ deep after blocking.

The pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners.
