Marjamets Shawl
Marjamets is a top down crescent shaped shawl inspired by Estonian forests. The same spruce tree pattern that is used on the edge is incorporated into the center spine which creates a lacy and delicate look. Nupps can be replaced by beads. The green shawl is the version with nupps and the black shawl with beads.
The total yardage required is approximately 420-480 yards for beaded version and 460-500 yards for the shawl with nupps, but be sure to have a little extra when you are working with the different yarn. I’ve listed a few yarn recommendations, but any laceweight yarn with similar yardage per 100g will work.
Skills required: Garter Tab cast on, k2tog, ssk, sk2p, yo, nupp/bead. The lace pattern is not difficult, but it needs some concentration and knowing how to read your own knitting, so it may not be suitable for beginners.
If you have any questions about the pattern, feel free to send me a message or earburn me in a thread. I check Ravelry quite often and try to respond as quickly as possible. You can also stop by at my group and ask for help there.
Big thank you to all the testers!
Update: I tested the pattern in fingering weight as well and it worked nicely: Marjamets in fingering weight. I used 510.1 yards in total, so I’m recommending having at least 510-600 yards. I also recommend slipping the first stitch purlwise when you are using heavier weight yarn.
Errata: The stitch count for row 13 in the Body Section should be 67.
There are 2 edge stitches missing in the end of row 23 of Left Edge Chart.
These mistakes have now been fixed in the latest version of the pattern.
